Description
Pure Impon (or Panchaloha/Aimpon)
Composition: “Impon” or “Aimpon” is the Tamil term for Panchaloha (or Panchadhatu). This is a traditional, sacred South Indian alloy made from a combination of five metals:
Gold (Pon)
Silver (Velli)
Copper (Sembu)
Zinc (Nagam)
Iron (Irumbhu)
Significance: This alloy is traditionally believed to bring spiritual protection, good health, balance, and positive energy to the wearer.
Color Change: A special characteristic of Impon chains is that the golden color is said to enhance and develop a richer, brighter shine with regular wear over time.
2. Saradu Chain
Meaning: “Saradu” is a general term often used in South Indian jewelry to refer to a thread or a chain. In this context, it refers to a simple, continuous chain, often one of the popular traditional designs.
Design: The image (image_6691a8.png) shows a Rettai Pattai (Double Strand) chain, which is a common style for a “Saradu” chain, featuring two parallel lines of repeating, smooth, leaf-and-bar shaped links.
3. Without Polish (Unpolished Finish)
Appearance: This typically means the chain is sold with its original, raw finish, which may appear slightly duller or more subdued compared to a highly-polished, machine-finished piece.
